Hanoi: The Lancang-Mekong Media Dialogue, hosted in Xining and Yushu, Qinghai Province, China, convened media representatives, government officials, and experts from the six Lancang-Mekong countries. The event aimed to foster discussions on enhancing media cooperation and promoting mutual understanding in the region.
According to Lao News Agency, Ms. Sivanxay Siphankham, Deputy Director General of the Lao News Agency (KPL), emphasized the crucial role that Lao media plays in Lancang-Mekong cooperation. She advocated for stronger professional exchanges among media organizations to build robust networks and improve information sharing.
Ms. Sivanxay reflected on a previous media event held in Vientiane in 2018, which provided journalists with opportunities to exchange experiences. She proposed increased collaboration in joint reporting and content creation on issues such as sustainable agriculture, cultural heritage, cross-border tourism, public health, education, and youth development.
Additionally, Ms. Sivanxay encouraged media organizations to enhance co-production and content sharing through digital platforms. She highlighted the potential of short videos, photojournalism, interviews, and multilingual features in expanding the reach and impact of media content.
The dialogue coincided with the Lancang-Mekong International Video and Photography Week, offering media professionals a valuable opportunity to strengthen networks and explore innovative ways to promote understanding and foster people-to-people connections across the region.
