Spouses of Vietnamese and Lao Leaders Attend Opening of Vietnam Film Week in Vientiane

Vientiane: Madame Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of Party General Secretary To Lam, and Madame Naly Sisoulith, wife of Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, were present as guests of honour at the opening of the Vietnam Film Week in Laos. The event, held in Vientiane, also featured a photo exhibition celebrating the bilateral ties between Vietnam and Laos. According to Lao News Agency, the Vietnam Film Week was co-organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism. During the opening ceremony, the guests, along with more than 1,000 Lao delegates and members of the Vietnamese community in Laos, watched a documentary on the late Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane. This documentary was produced by the Vietnam Central Studio of Documentary Scientific Film Studio to commemorate his 105th birth anniversary. The film highlights Kaysone's revolutionary career, ideological legacy, and contributions to the Lao liberation, constr uction, and development. It also emphasizes the strong bond, trust, and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos throughout history. Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong described the event as a cultural and artistic bridge that demonstrates the solidarity and cooperation between the two nations. Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Vansy Kuamua expressed hope that the film week will inspire younger generations of both countries to maintain and strengthen their historic bond. The Vietnam Film Week in Laos, running from December 2 to 6, showcases award-winning Vietnamese films, including the documentary on Kaysone Phomvihane. In addition to attending the opening ceremony, the two ladies visited a photo exhibition showcasing the great friendship between Vietnam and Laos. This exhibition features 50 photographs highlighting key moments in the nations' shared history, ranging from their anti-colonial struggles to current cooperation in national development and de fence. Prior to the film week, on December 1, they visited the Vientiane Museum of Contemporary Art, an activity organised by the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
