Manila: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Monday said the planned expansion of NephroPlus, Asia's largest dialysis network, will significantly improve renal care access while stimulating the country's healthcare economy.
According to Philippines News Agency, currently operating 39 dialysis centers nationwide, the Indian healthcare firm aims to open 150 clinics by 2028, a move announced following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s official visit to India from Aug. 6 to 8. 'NephroPlus' expansion brings more than new clinics, it delivers hope to thousands of Filipinos who rely on regular dialysis,' DTI Secretary Cristina Roque said in a statement.
The expansion will not only increase the availability of renal care but also create about 1,000 job positions. The targeted areas for these new clinics include underserved provinces and locations with a high prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the country. Roque emphasized that by investing in technology, training, and local manufacturing, the company is creating jobs and building a stronger foundation for the healthcare economy.
Roque further mentioned that the expansion aligns with the 'Bagong Pilipinas' vision of the Marcos administration, which aims to bring life-saving services closer to Filipinos, especially in disadvantaged areas. She highlighted the importance of private sector collaboration in achieving quality healthcare for every Filipino.
In addition to tripling its workforce, NephroPlus plans to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) treatment monitoring and launch clinical research in dialysis services, further enhancing the quality and efficiency of care provided.
