Seoul: Satya Nadella, chief executive officer (CEO) of Microsoft Corp., expressed his strong belief in the potential of South Korea's human capital and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities during the Microsoft AI Tour 2025 in Seoul. Nadella highlighted the company's recent AI partnerships with Korean firms as a testament to his confidence in the country's ability to drive future economic growth.
According to Lao News Agency, Nadella underscored the significant productivity gains that AI can bring, not only to Microsoft but also to various sectors within Korea. In his keynote speech, he introduced Korean companies that have successfully integrated Microsoft's AI solutions, such as Copilot, a generative AI chatbot, to boost productivity and enhance customer service.
Nadella emphasized the success of a 2.4 trillion-won (US$1.65 billion) partnership with Korean telecommunications giant KT Corp. signed last year. He stressed the shared vision of both companies in utilizing AI as a transformative tool for daily life and the broader economy. Nadella and KT CEO Kim Young-shub discussed developing new AI models tailored to the Korean language and culture and cloud services for Korean corporate clients.
The Microsoft CEO expressed confidence that these collaborations would significantly contribute to Korea's economic growth, highlighting the importance of spreading AI skills and knowledge. He also met with LG Electronics Inc. CEO Cho Joo-wan to discuss their ongoing AI partnership, which focuses on AI co-development, data center collaboration, and expansion into new markets such as India.
The partnership between LG Electronics and Microsoft aims to expand AI applications in the home, mobility, and commercial sectors, along with providing LG's Chiller technology for Microsoft's data centers, further solidifying their strategic alliance.
