Boten:The Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd. has launched its first morning passenger service from Boten to Vientiane, offering residents in northern Laos a new option for same-day travel to the capital.
According to Lao News Agency, the inaugural train C95 departed Boten Station at 8:00 am on September 28, with Mr. Lu Haizhou, General Manager of the Laos-China Railway Company, on board. It is scheduled to reach Vientiane Station by 11:47 am.
The return journey, train C96, leaves Vientiane at 2:05 pm and reaches Boten at 6:32 pm, enabling passengers to complete a round trip in a single day. Train C95 operates every Tuesday, while C96 runs every Thursday, with round-trip services available from Friday to Monday.
The trains make stops at six stations: Boten, Nateuy, Xay, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, and Vientiane. The railway company has adjusted its operations to prioritize safety and passenger convenience despite challenges related to transport capacity and staffing.
These new services are designed to enhance passenger transport options along the Laos-China Railway, facilitating travel for business, tourism, and family visits. They are anticipated to boost tourism and economic activities along the railway corridor, strengthening connectivity between Laos and China.
