Vientiane: For generations of students in Savannakhet Province, Savannakhet Secondary School has been more than just a place to study. Now, after more than six decades of serving local communities, the school is set for a major transformation that could reshape the learning experience for thousands of young people.
According to Lao News Agency, the Government of the People's Republic of China has provided a grant to rebuild and upgrade the school, creating a safer, more modern, and better-equipped environment for students and teachers. A groundbreaking ceremony for the China-aided upgrading and renovation project was held last Friday in Savannakhet Province, bringing together government officials, representatives of Chinese and Lao enterprises, teachers, and other stakeholders.
Representatives from both countries jointly laid the foundation stone, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the long-established school. Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Kingmano Phommahaxay said the project would significantly improve the school's educational infrastructure and provide students with a safer and more modern environment in which to learn. He described the initiative as a tangible result of efforts to build a Laos-China community with a shared future, highlighting the importance of cooperation in education and human-resource development.
