C. Visayas wage board: Hearings on pay hike start July 10

MANILA - The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Region 7 (Central Visayas) will be holding several public hearings on minimum wage adjustment for private workers and kasambahays (domestic workers). In a social media post on Thursday, the wage board invited stakeholders, including employers and workers, to participate in the public hearing to be held starting July 10 until August 11. The five hearings will be held in different venues in Cebu, Bohol and Negros Oriental. 'The Public Hearing shall be conducted to ensure that all Sectors and Parties who stand to be directly affected by the Board's decision are given the widest opportunity to be heard,' it said. 'The Hearings will be conducted in five strategic areas in the region,' the RTPWPB-Region 7 added. Those interested to join may reserve a seat and register here: bit.ly/RB7PublicHearing2023 The schedule of the public hearings is as follows: -- July 10, 9 a.m., Captain Hall 1, 2nd Floor, Capitancillo Cafe and Restaurant, Bogo City, Cebu; -- July 26, 9 a.m., Executive Hall, DepEd Ecotech Center, Lahug, Cebu City, Cebu -- August 1, 9 a.m., 2nd Floor, Hotel Dulcee, City of Naga, Cebu. The two other hearings will be held on Aug. 10, 1 p.m. at Mezzanine A and B, Kew Hotel, Tagbilaran City, Bohol, and on Aug. 11, 1:30 p.m., Function Room 3, Royal Suite Inn, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. Late last month, the National Capital Region wage board granted a PHP40 hike in the minimum wage for private sector workers. The minimum wage in Metro Manila would be at PHP610 from PHP570 effective July 16. (PNA)
