Shenyang: Speaking to a correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the sidelines of the ASEAN-China Media Cooperation Forum in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China, Mr. Khammone noted that 2026 marks the third consecutive year that Vietnam has hosted the regional forum.
According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Khammone described the theme of this year's forum as meaningful, reflecting ASEAN's forward-looking vision and the region's shared aspirations for peace, development, and improved living standards for its people. He stated that Vietnam holds a central position and plays an important role in advancing regional cooperation initiatives, including the ASEAN Future Forum.
Mr. Khammone highlighted several of Vietnam's strengths, such as its strategic geographical location and a coastline of more than 3,200 kilometres, which provides favourable conditions for maritime economic development, trade, and regional connectivity. He also praised Vietnam's economic achievements, noting that the country has maintained strong growth rates that have gained international recognition, expressing confidence in Vietnam's continued progress in the coming years.
Furthermore, Mr. Khammone commended Vietnam's stable political and social environment, describing it as a key foundation for sustainable development and expanded international cooperation. According to him, Vietnam's foreign policy of peace, independence, and proactive international integration has helped strengthen ties with ASEAN member states and partners worldwide.
He also emphasized Vietnam's young and dynamic workforce, as well as its rich tourism resources and scenic attractions, which enhance the country's attractiveness to international visitors and investors. Looking ahead to AFF 2026, Mr. Khammone expressed confidence that the forum would continue to promote dialogue, strengthen solidarity, cooperation, and connectivity among member states, contributing to building a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable ASEAN Community with people at its centre.
