Khammouane Roundabout to Feature Unique Design Reflecting Local Heritage

Thakhek:Khammouane A new roundabout under construction along Route 13 South is set to become a landmark in Thakhek District, blending modern infrastructure with artistic elements that embody the cultural identity and heritage of Khammouane Province.

According to Lao News Agency, the roundabout is located on the road leading to the 3rd Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge and is being constructed at a cost of 3.8 billion kip. The project is supported by Asia-Potash International (Laos) Co., Ltd. and is currently 60% complete, with an expected completion date in April 2027.

The roundabout's design distinguishes it from typical traffic intersections by incorporating artistic features inspired by local culture and history. These include images of the khaen, the traditional Lao mouth organ, Mahaxay chariot motifs, and sculptures that represent the province's unique landscape.

Mr. Vanxay Phongsavanh, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission, President of the State Inspection Authority, and Head of the Central Anti-Corruption Authority, recently visited the site to inspect construction progress as part of a working visit to Khammouane Province.

The project aims to offer more than just a functional traffic junction, intending to transform the site into a new landmark that highlights Khammouane's cultural identity and serves as a distinctive gateway to Thakhek District.
