Prime Minister Sonexay Congratulates Vietnamese President To Lam on Election

Hanoi: Prime Minister Sonexay paid a courtesy call to Vietnamese President To Lam, congratulating him on his election as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Prime Minister praised Vietnam's growing role on the regional and international stage while conveying warm greetings from President Thongloun Sisoulith. He expressed gratitude to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam for their longstanding support and assistance to Laos.

According to Lao News Agency, the two leaders exchanged views on developments in their respective countries and reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation. They noted that the friendship and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam continue to deepen, supported by regular exchanges of high-level delegations and effective implementation of agreements by the two countries' top leaders.

Both leaders valued the outcomes of the 48th Meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee and the progress of key bilateral projects. They agreed to further strengthen political ties, expand cooperation in national defense and security, and enhance collaboration in education and human resource development to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.

The leaders pledged to work closely in preparing for the celebration of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2027, marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation. They emphasized promoting awareness among younger generations of the unique relationship between Laos and Vietnam.

President To Lam welcomed Prime Minister Sonexay's visit, describing it as an important contribution to strengthening bilateral ties. He encouraged the continued implementation of agreements reached by the two Politburos and the acceleration of strategic cooperation projects, ensuring the special relationship remains strong and beneficial to both countries.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination and mutual support in regional and international forums.
