Bacolod: Drug enforcement teams of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized PHP4.76 million in shabu in a series of buy-busts between Sunday night and early Monday morning. 'I commend the operatives for their dedication and commitment in the fight against illegal drugs in Bacolod City,' BCPO Director Col. Joeresty Coronica said in a statement.
According to Philippines News Agency, each gram of shabu has a standard drug price of PHP6,800 per gram. On Monday, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recovered 100 grams of shabu worth PHP680,000 minutes past midnight at Bangga Vista Alegre, Barangay Mansilingan. Suspects alias 'Reagan,' 38, a jeepney driver, and alias 'Rolando,' 40, a fish vendor, were arrested after selling a sachet of shabu at PHP1,000 to a police poseur-buyer.
In Barangay Handumanan, the operation of CDEU operatives on Sunday night yielded shabu valued at PHP3.536 million. Two suspects were arrested, alias 'Levi,' 29, of Lucky Homes, Barangay Handumanan and alias 'Raegil,' 30, of Fortune Town, Barangay Estefania. During a meet-up at Zone 5 past 8:30 p.m., they sold a sachet of shabu for PHP1,000 to an undercover policeman. Operatives found in their possession five knot-tied and seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing 520 grams of shabu.
Over in Barangay Singcang-Airport, anti-illegal drug personnel of Police Station 8 recovered from two persons 80 grams of shabu valued at PHP544,000. The suspects, alias "Evon," 27, a home-based call center agent, and her partner, alias "Riche," 50, an ambulance driver, both residents of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, were arrested during the operation around 8:42 p.m. on Sunday.
Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. stated in an interview on Monday that Riche, a regular city government employee, will be placed under suspension while the police investigation is ongoing. The arrested suspects will be charged with violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
