National Steering Committee Launches One-Stop State Service Reform

Vientiane: The meeting brought together deputy ministers, provincial leaders, and committee members to advance reforms aimed at making government services faster, more transparent, and more accessible. According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Saleumxay emphasized that the initiative reflects the Party and Government's commitment to prioritizing citizens in public service delivery. The reform focuses on streamlining administrative procedures, strengthening governance, accelerating digital transformation, and promoting decentralization. Participants at the meeting reviewed the implementation of the One-Stop State Service mechanism since its inception in 2006. They endorsed the committee's action plan for 2026-2030, with discussions centered on expanding services provided through One-Stop Service Centres. The meeting also addressed the need for improved operational funding and the introduction of centralized electronic payment systems for government fees, accessible through online platforms, mobile banking applicatio ns, and commercial banks. The committee was established under Government Decree No. 218/PM, issued on June 26, 2026, outlining its responsibilities in overseeing the nationwide implementation of the reform. Following the meeting, ministries, government agencies, and local authorities are tasked with establishing dedicated implementation committees and developing Smart One-Stop Service Centres (Smart ODSC). They will collaborate with relevant agencies to strengthen the legal framework and integrate sector-specific public services into a unified digital service platform.
