Hanoi:Vietnam-Laos Product Week, themed ‘Beautiful Champa Flowers,’ commenced in Hanoi on October 1 as part of the ‘Vitality of Vietnamese Goods’ programme. This event aims to bring distinctive products from Vietnam and Laos closer to consumers while providing opportunities for businesses to expand market connections.
According to Lao News Agency, the event is co-organized by the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Department of Domestic Trade under the Lao Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Viet Son highlighted the enduring friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, emphasizing the importance of economic and trade relations.
The event allows businesses, cooperatives, and producers to connect with potential partners, gain market insights, and explore new business opportunities. It provides a platform for showcasing distinctive goods from both countries, enabling Hanoi consumers and visitors to experience these products firsthand. Products on display not only hold commercial value but also represent the cultural identity of each nation, fostering mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Lao peoples.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to continue collaborating with its Lao counterpart to promote practical initiatives that will further enhance bilateral economic and trade ties. Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh emphasized the importance of direct engagement between businesses and consumers in realizing the economic agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders.
Tran Huu Linh, head of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, noted that this marks the first official introduction of a wide range of Lao specialties in Hanoi, offering a new opportunity for Lao businesses to enter the Vietnamese market. Prior to the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the department and the Youth Union of the Government to support the ‘Vitality of Vietnamese Goods’ programme, focusing on promoting Vietnamese products and enhancing digital transformation and e-commerce activities.
