Vientiane: The Government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela have extended their heartfelt condolences to the Lao people and government following the passing of former President Khamtay Siphandone, a historic revolutionary figure of Laos.
According to Lao News Agency, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yv¡n Gil sent a message to Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane on April 2. In the message, Gil paid tribute to Khamtay Siphandone's lifelong dedication to national liberation, development, and the well-being of the Lao people. Gil described Khamtay Siphandone's legacy as one that will be remembered for generations.
On behalf of the Venezuelan state and people, Gil expressed profound sorrow and solidarity, particularly with Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and his family in their time of loss.
