The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced on Tuesday that Secretary Susan Ople is on a two-week wellness break following the consecutive passing of her two older brothers. ‘Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople is on a much-needed wellness break this week,’ the announcement issued on Tuesday reads. Ople confirms the passing of former Hagonoy, Bulacan mayor Felix “Toti” Ople, and former journalist Blas F. Ople, Jr. both due to lung cancer, as she sought prayers for them. “I profusely thank President (Ferdinand R.) Marcos Jr. for not just granting my request but also for conveying his personal condolences,” Ople said. Ople said she needs time to grieve and be with members of her family in this difficult time. Moreover, she said that she also wants to look after her own wellness need. “Our family lost two good men within a span of five days. They are now in a much better place, free from pain and reunited with our beloved parents and brother, Raul,’ Ople said.
