Vientiane:The Malaysia Travel and Education Fair 2026 has officially opened at Parkson Mall, aiming to bolster tourism and educational exchanges between Malaysia and Laos. The two-day event, organized by Tourism Malaysia Vientiane in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia in the Lao PDR, highlights Malaysia's attractions for leisure travel and higher education.

According to Lao News Agency, the fair is themed 'Let's Discover Malaysia A Perfect Destination for Everyone' and showcases Malaysia's diverse tourism spots, educational opportunities, and cultural experiences. Ambassador of Malaysia to the Lao PDR, Mrs. Norli Muadza Mohd Noor, emphasized the fair's significance in strengthening bilateral relations and cultural diplomacy.

The event is a regional platform to support the Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 campaign, which was launched by Malaysia's Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The campaign, featuring the endangered Malayan Sun Bear as its mascot, focuses on biodiversity conservation and eco-tourism. It aims to highlight Malaysia's natural landscapes and cultural heritage while promoting responsible tourism.

Mrs. Baizuri Baharum, Senior Director of the International Promotion Division (Southeast Asia) at Tourism Malaysia, pointed out the steady growth in Lao visitor arrivals to Malaysia, with a 24.02% increase from January to August 2026 compared to the previous year. Improved connectivity, such as AirAsia's direct flights between Vientiane and Kuala Lumpur, supports this growth.

The fair also emphasizes higher education opportunities in Malaysia, with participation from education consultants like Expert Education, GSAC, and Global Education Alliance. These organizations are showcasing study pathways to Lao students, reinforcing the fair's mission of promoting educational exchange.

Visitors can explore travel packages and education opportunities at 16 interactive booths, including those from ten Lao travel agencies. Those who make bookings during the fair have a chance to win prizes. The event also features live Malaysian cultural performances and interactive showcases, offering an engaging experience of Malaysia's cultural diversity.
