Khammouane: A groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 25 to mark the start of infrastructure construction for the Lao Cai Yun Circular Economy Industrial Zone in Khammouane Province. The event was attended by senior officials and invited guests, including Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, former Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce; Mr. Somjai Phanichan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Han Hui Lu, Chairman of Lao Cai Yun Company; and representatives from relevant sectors. According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Huang Tesuan, Director of Lao Cai Yun Bolikhamxay Limited Company, emphasized during the ceremony that the company has been operating in the Lao PDR since 2008, with a focus on the research and efficient utilization of potassium salt resources. The company currently produces more than one million tons of potassium fertilizer annually, enhancing the international recognition of Lao potassium fertilizer and contributing to national socio-economi c development and industrialization. The industrial zone will span approximately 1,000 hectares and is designed to establish a modern industrial cluster based on efficient resource recycling and reuse, integrated industrial development, and environmental sustainability. Planned key industries include deep processing of potassium salt, chemicals, salt, bromine, renewable energy, green agriculture, and related commercial services. Officials indicated that the project is anticipated to support Laos' transition from a resource-exporting economy to industry-led and sustainable development, adhering to circular economy principles. The ceremony concluded with a symbolic groundbreaking, as Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, along with attending guests, performed the ceremonial pile driving and cement pouring to officially initiate construction.
