Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista appointed Glen Galario as the new officer-in-charge of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for Central Visayas (LTO-7) on Wednesday. In a statement, the DOTr said the appointment was made through a special order issued by Bautista designating Galario as the LTO-7 chief. Galario, who previously served as the office's assistant regional director, will replace outgoing LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec. It said Caindec served as LTO-7 director for over five years and touted his accomplishments, such as doubling the LTO-7's offices and licensing centers from 18 to 36. The LTO-7, it said, also boasts of the country's first and largest licensing center and has other offices centers in Camotes and Bantayan islands as well as in the towns of Dalaguete, Balamban, Ronda, and La Libertad in Negros Oriental. Under his leadership, the LTO-7 has offered a free theoretical driving course scholarship program that has so far produced 20,000 graduates in the region, it added.
