Son La: A gathering themed ‘Everlasting Vietnam-Laos Special Friendship’ took place in the northern mountainous province of Son La to mark the Bunpimay festival, the traditional New Year celebration of Laos. The event aimed to honor the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Laos and provide Lao students in Son La with a cultural connection during the festive season.
According to Lao News Agency, the event was organized to strengthen the bonds between the two nations and support Lao students studying in the region. Deputy Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Board for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, Mui Anh Tien, extended warm wishes to the Lao students and commended local educational institutions for their efforts in training and supporting them. This initiative contributes to the province’s cooperation with nine northern Lao provinces in developing high-quality human resources.
The celebration included traditional Lao rituals such as wrist-tying and water splashing, along with cultural performances and music. These activities provided the Lao students with a familiar and warm atmosphere for the celebration. Additionally, 35 Lao students were awarded certificates of merit for their academic achievements and active participation in youth activities.
Through this event, participants were able to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures and the strong bonds between the two nations, relationships that have been nurtured over generations by the leaders and people of Vietnam and Laos.
