Champasak:Prof. Dr. Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun, President of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC), delivered 100 tons of rice and 200 million kip to families affected by severe flooding in Champasak Province.
According to Lao News Agency, the aid was distributed during a ceremony at the Champasak Provincial Administration Office, attended by Dr. Alounxay Sounnalath and provincial leaders. The rice donation was supported by Deseret International Charities, while the monetary contribution came from LFNC Committee members and the public.
The provincial Disaster Management Committee reported significant damage due to flooding, affecting 244 villages, 2,961 houses, and 7,359 hectares of land. Infrastructure, including roads, irrigation projects, and schools, also sustained damage.
Provincial authorities are prioritizing infrastructure repairs and support for families whose livelihoods were disrupted. Dr. Alounxay thanked the LFNC and contributors for the timely aid and assured that relief would reach those in need.
Prof. Dr. Kikeo also visited the provincial LFNC office, meeting with officials to discuss support and community outreach, during which he presented an additional 60 million kip to local LFNC chapters.
