Bandar seri begawan: The Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Bandar Seri Begawan held a tribute and mourning ceremony on the morning of August 10 to pay respects to Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR. Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 70.
According to Lao News Agency, the ceremony was held as a solemn expression of respect and remembrance for the late President of the National Assembly, who devoted his life and service to the Party, the State, and the people of the Lao PDR.
The Embassy of the Lao PDR in Brunei Darussalam will continue to open a condolence book from August 10 to 12, 2026, at the Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. This allows diplomatic missions, government officials, organizations, and members of the public to express their condolences and pay their respects to the late leader.
