Manila: The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) issued a warning to the public about a fraudulent Facebook post purportedly from a fake Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) account. The post contains malicious links aimed at deceiving users.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DICT cautioned that these links are crafted to steal personal information or potentially compromise a user's device. The agency emphasized the importance of avoiding interaction with suspicious links and advised against sharing personal details or engaging with unverified online posts.

In response to the situation, the DICT has directed the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) to coordinate with Facebook for the swift removal of the deceptive content. This directive aligns with DICT Secretary Henry Aguda's mandate for the CICC to enforce stringent measures against the use of deep fakes in circulating fake news and executing financial scams.

The DICT also urged Filipinos to stay alert and practice responsible online behavior. They encouraged reporting any suspicious activity, scams, or online deception through the CICC Hotline at 1326 or other official reporting channels.
