Bandar Lampung: The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs announced emergency aid worth 568 million IDR (34,700 USD) to assist residents impacted by severe flooding in Bandar Lampung city, Lampung province. This aid aims to support those affected by the floods that have inundated thousands of homes across the city and its surrounding areas.
According to Lao News Agency, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that the aid, comprising food, clothing, and medicine, was mobilized from the social barn in Palembang, South Sumatra. These essential items have been distributed to residents in the flood-stricken areas, including Bandar Lampung city, South Lampung, and Pesawaran districts.
The ministry has also prepared additional relief supplies valued at nearly 1.5 billion IDR (91,800 USD) to address potential future disasters. Minister Yusuf emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting families who have lost property, highlighting plans for financial assistance to help them stabilize their lives.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) issued a danger warning for Bandar Lampung city after high-intensity rain since early February 23 led to rising water levels. The floods have submerged at least 2,180 houses across three areas, prompting the evacuation of residents to safer locations.
