Vientiane: The 11th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party commenced on February 24, 2025, led by Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, who serves as both General Secretary of the Party’s Central Committee and State President.

According to Lao News Agency, the session spans two days and aims to address significant national and Party matters, particularly the proposed amendments to the 2015 Constitution, changes to the Law on Local Administration, and the creation of taxeng, or communes. The session’s strategic insights on these topics are slated to be presented at the second extraordinary session of the 9th National Assembly, anticipated in mid-March.

Key topics of discussion also include Laos’ foreign relations and future international cooperation, as well as preparations for the 12th Party Congress. During the meeting, Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith highlighted the necessity of thorough examination, discussion, and decision-making on these pivotal issues. This approach aims to further the innovation policy, fortify the people’s democratic state, and implement resolutions from the 11th Party Congress and previous Party Central Committee decisions, thus setting the stage for the 12th Party Congress in 2026.
