Xaysomboun: Speaking on the sidelines of the First Enlarged Government Meeting on June 24, the provincial governor said the province will prioritize rainy-season crop cultivation and animal husbandry to increase productivity and strengthen food security. Authorities will also continue promoting cooperative economic models, improve the management of enterprises, and enhance the efficiency of the electricity and mining sectors in accordance with national laws and regulations. According to Lao News Agency, infrastructure development will remain a key focus, with continued investment in upgrading road and transport networks to improve connectivity and support economic growth. The province is targeting annual economic growth of at least 7 percent in 2026 and plans to strengthen public revenue collection while ensuring prudent and effective management of state expenditures. Public investment will be directed toward priority projects that support sustainable development. Xaysomboun will also continue investing in education and healthcare by improving schools, hospitals, and health centers, while expanding workforce development to equip people with the skills needed for the province's growing economy. In addition, the province aims to promote ethnic cultural heritage as part of tourism development and ensure that approved tourism projects are implemented effectively. As part of its broader development agenda, Xaysomboun is working to reduce poverty by helping 409 households rise above the poverty line, removing four villages from the list of poor communities, developing six additional villages, and enabling one district to achieve poverty-free status by the end of the year.
