Vietnamese Party Chief to Honor Former Laotian President in Vientiane

Vientiane: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam is set to lead a high-ranking delegation from Vietnam to Vientiane on April 3. The delegation aims to pay respects to Khamtay Siphandone, the former President of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and former President of Laos, who died on April 2.

According to Lao News Agency, Khamtay Siphandone passed away at 10:30 am on April 2 at the age of 102. This was confirmed in a special communique issued by the LPRP Central Committee, National Assembly, Government of Laos, and the Lao Front for National Development Central Committee.

In honor of Khamtay Siphandone, the LPRP Central Committee, National Assembly, Government of Laos, and the Lao Front for National Development Central Committee have declared a five-day national mourning period from April 3 to 7. Official memorial services are scheduled to take place at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane.
