Hanoi: In a significant meeting held in Hanoi, Vietnam, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, To Lam, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) on the successful completion of its 12th National Congress. To Lam commended the substantial progress achieved under the LPRP's leadership.

According to Lao News Agency, the commendations were made during a gathering at the International Convention Centre in Hanoi. The event was attended by visiting Lao President and LPRP Secretary General Thongloun Sisoulith, who provided Vietnamese leaders with an overview of the 12th National Congress's accomplishments.

This visit marks President Thongloun's first international trip following the pivotal congress. The two-day state visit to Vietnam serves as a platform to inform Vietnamese officials about the congress's outcomes and future directions.

The Congress, which convened under the theme 'Enhancing the Party's Strong Leadership, Proactively Building an Independent and Self-Reliant Economy, Continuing to Consolidate the People's Democratic Regime, and Advancing towards Socialism,' was a thorough review of past resolutions and set a strategic course for the country's future.

President Thongloun emphasized the Congress's key outcomes, which included the adoption of major Party and national documents, as well as the election of new central leadership bodies. One of the most notable achievements was the approval of the 3rd Party Political Programme, a crucial document aimed at guiding the Party and the diverse Lao populace in upholding the people's democratic regime and advancing the renovation policy initiated by President Kaysone Phomvihane.

The newly approved Political Programme outlines 11 core policies for advancing toward socialism, approves 10 priority development areas, and endorses the 10th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2026-2030). Additionally, revisions to the Party statutes were ratified during the congress.

The Congress also saw the election of the 12th Central Committee of the LPRP, consisting of 73 full members and 15 alternate members. This Committee subsequently elected a 13-member Politburo and an 11-member Secretariat to lead the Party's efforts in the forthcoming term.
