Vietnam Film Week in Laos Strengthens Bilateral Ties

Vientiane: In a year marked by significant milestones for both nations, the Vietnam Film Week in Laos has served as a meaningful cultural bridge, according to Do Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Cinema under the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

According to Lao News Agency, at the closing ceremony on December 6 in Vientiane, Viet expressed that the event aimed to offer the Lao people vivid and authentic portrayals of Vietnam, highlighting the solidarity and compassion shared between the two nations. The six-day event showcased a selection of outstanding works, including newly released films, to Lao and Vietnamese audiences.

Viet described the event as a sincere gesture of congratulations from the Vietnamese film industry to Laotians on the 50th anniversary of their National Day. He emphasized that the film week plays a crucial role in enhancing understanding, affection, and appreciation for the Vietnam-Laos special friendship.

The organisers noted that the films contributed to strengthening Vietnam-Laos friendship, bringing the two peoples closer together. They highlighted that the stories, images, and messages conveyed in each film held cultural and historical depth, illustrating the enduring solidarity between the two nations.

The programme was viewed not only as a cinematic exchange but also as an opportunity to reaffirm both countries' commitment to nurturing and promoting their great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic cohesion.
