Vice President Bounthong Chitmany Visits Khammouane Province to Drive Socio-Economic Progress

Khammouane: From July 5-6, 2025, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Vice President of the Lao PDR, led a delegation on a guidance visit to Khammouane Province.

According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Vanxay Phongsavan, Governor of Khammouane Province, briefed the Vice President on the province's progress over the first half of the year. The governor highlighted significant achievements in areas such as socio-economic development and the organization of Party meetings at various levels.

Vice President Bounthong Chitmany commended the provincial Party Committee and leadership for their efforts in promoting comprehensive development. He emphasized the need to maintain the momentum while addressing challenges, including national defense and security, border safeguarding, social unrest reduction, and tackling drug abuse.

In terms of socio-economic development, the Vice President urged the province to expedite public and private sector projects to ensure competitiveness and quality. This, he noted, would attract further investment and augment national budget revenue. He also suggested reviewing small and medium-sized enterprises to identify high-performing businesses for promotion.

The Vice President stressed the importance of timely agricultural production during the rainy season, flood control, animal disease prevention, poverty reduction, and addressing school dropout rates. He also highlighted the need for thorough preparation for the 50th anniversary of the Lao PDR and the 104th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane.

Finally, Vice President Bounthong encouraged grassroots and district-level Party organizations to effectively implement resolutions from their completed meetings.
