Vientiane: The Culture and Tourism Office of Thoulakhom District, Vientiane Province, has issued a notification prohibiting accommodation and service providers from facilitating or supporting individuals involved in internet crimes, online gambling and scams.
According to Lao News Agency, the notification was issued on September 1, 2026, aiming to enforce Prime Ministerial Order No. 32/PM, which strengthens measures to prevent and combat internet crimes, online gambling, and scams. It also aligns with the Ministry of Public Security Notice No. 308/MPS, dated July 15, 2026.
The notification targets Lao citizens, foreigners, stateless persons, organizations, and businesses, specifically accommodation providers such as hotels, guesthouses, resorts, apartments, and rental houses. These entities are prohibited from knowingly providing accommodation, facilities, or other forms of direct or indirect support to groups involved in illegal online activities.
The district office has mandated that hotels, guesthouses, resorts, apartments, restaurants, and other service providers adhere strictly to these measures and enhance monitoring efforts to prevent criminal activities.
Authorities emphasized that these measures aim to maintain peace, security, and social order, urging all relevant individuals and businesses to rigorously implement the notification.
