Bangkok: The Education Ministry of Thailand has instituted a ban on the use of e-cigarettes in all schools and ministry offices across the nation, as part of efforts to combat the increasing prevalence of vaping among young people.
According to Lao News Agency, Deputy Government Spokesman Karom Polpornklang highlighted a troubling trend where young individuals are increasingly drawn to vaping, influenced by greater access and targeted online advertising. In response, the ministry has unveiled four strategic measures aimed at safeguarding the health of children and adolescents.
One primary measure involves launching awareness campaigns to educate students, teachers, officials, and school administrators about the health risks associated with e-cigarettes. These initiatives are expected to include educational courses, extracurricular activities, and various public relations efforts.
Additionally, the ministry plans to install prominent signs prohibiting vaping in all ministry-managed schools and offices. Further measures will focus on strengthening supervision and prevention efforts, alongside implementing disciplinary actions for non-compliance.
