Vientiane:Motorists are advised to avoid a section of Lane Xang Road in Vientiane Capital on September 26-27, 2026, due to temporary traffic diversions for road construction work.
According to Lao News Agency, the Vientiane Capital Department of Public Works and Transport issued Notice No. 8626/PWTC.VC on September 23, outlining the temporary traffic arrangements.
The inbound lane of Lane Xang Road, specifically from the Vientiane High School traffic light to the Laos-France Bank traffic light, will be impacted. This diversion supports the Smart Clean-Cooling Road System (CCRS) project, which involves road-cutting and pipe-laying activities.
Motorists traveling from the Prime Minister’s Office area needing to bypass the affected section are advised to use alternative routes. Options include turning right along the Vientiane High School wall towards Sisavath Road and Sailom Road or turning left onto the road beside the Vientiane Office towards Nongbone Road.
Residents and individuals working in the affected area should adhere to traffic police instructions when entering or leaving the zone. Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance, allow for additional travel time, and utilize alternative routes to minimize traffic congestion during the construction period.
