Liuyang: The 6th Liuyang International Fireworks Festival, held in Hunan, China, witnessed the Swedish team clinching victory with their innovative display simulating the aurora effect. The event, which took place on October 25, featured top-tier fireworks teams from the United States, Japan, Hungary, Belgium, Sweden, and Slovenia, each showcasing their pyrotechnic creativity and skill.
According to Lao News Agency, the Swedish team’s performance captivated the audience with the dynamic aesthetics of the transition between day and night. Meanwhile, the Japanese team closed the show with a theme titled “The Fang of Light: A Beacon of Hope,” narrating a story of igniting fireworks to dispel darkness.
The Hungarian team embraced a cultural theme with “The Silk Road,” blending classic shell fireworks with modern Roman candles and single shots to offer a musical and cultural journey spanning two nations. China’s renowned status as the birthplace of fireworks and its position as the world’s largest producer and exporter were highlighted during the festival. Official statistics reveal that Liuyang’s fireworks industry achieved an annual output value exceeding RMB 50 billion in 2024, accounting for 70% of China’s total fireworks exports, with over 1,800 displays executed both domestically and internationally.
Recent innovations in Liuyang have seen the integration of drones and multimedia art into fireworks displays, resulting in performances such as “Sky Gate” and “Heart of the Earth.” These efforts have redefined the boundaries of pyrotechnic artistry. The fireworks gala was a major highlight of the ongoing 17th Liuyang International Fireworks Festival, often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ and ‘World Cup’ of the global fireworks industry. This year’s festival selected six elite teams through a rigorous global entry process.
The judging panel comprised five professional fireworks industry experts, artists, a top-tier stage designer, music producers, and internet influencers, providing comprehensive scores based on technical proficiency, artistic merit, and communication effectiveness.
