SSS calamity loan available for Mayon-affected members

Members and pensioners of the Social Security Systems (SSS) in the areas affected by the ongoing unrest of Mayon Volcano may now avail of the Calamity Loan Assistance Program (CLAP) equivalent to one-month salary credit. In an interview on Thursday, Jeanette Mapa, SSS-Bicol spokesperson, said all 15 towns and three cities in Albay province are covered after these were declared under a state of calamity. “For the areas affected by Mayon Volcano activity, two types of assistance were available for members and pensioners. For members, they can avail of the CLAP, while for pensioners, they can avail three-month advance. SSS is now accepting applications for the assistance package and will end up to Sept. 21 this year,” she said. Mapa said the loan shall be payable within two years or 24 equal monthly installments. “Once approved, the loan amortization will start on the second month. The payment deadline will be on the last day of the month. The member-borrower must apply through the SSS website by accessing their My.SSS account,” she said. Pensioners with no existing loan under the Pension Loan Program are qualified to apply for the three-month advance pension. “For the documentary requirements, the pensioner shall submit a properly accomplished application for assistance due to calamity or disaster duly certified by their barangay chairman. Unlike the CLAP, the file anywhere policy is being implemented, which means all branches shall receive applications for the three-month advance pension,” she said. Mapa also encouraged members to regularly pay their monthly contribution to enjoy benefits and privileges that a member may avail of based on their premiums
