Sekong: Sekong Province of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Da Nang City of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam held a meeting and exchange session between their high-level delegations on October 28, 2025, at the Sekong Provincial Government Office. The meeting was attended by Mr. Bounlay Boutthi, Secretary of the Sekong Provincial Party Committee, and his delegation, along with Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, and his delegation.
According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Bounlay Boutthi warmly welcomed the visiting Da Nang City delegation and emphasized the meeting’s purpose: to jointly assess and further strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, specifically between Sekong Province and Da Nang City. He highlighted the goal of making these ties more stable and comprehensive. Further, he informed the delegation about the successful conclusion of the 11th Congress of the Sekong Provincial Party Committee and expressed gratitude for Da Nang City’s ongoing support in funding developmental and poverty reduction projects in Sekong Province.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vong provided an update on Da Nang City’s organizational restructuring. The meeting included discussions on future cooperation directions. A significant outcome was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation on Border Work, focusing on harmonized law implementation, enhanced border checkpoint operations, and public awareness to foster friendship based on solidarity and unity.
Both sides agreed on close coordination in developing border checkpoint infrastructure and conducting regular inspections and surveys of the border area. They also decided to establish committees for coordination, supervision, and on-site monitoring. The commitment to maintaining peace, safety, and ongoing development in border regions was reaffirmed, deepening the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Sekong Province and Da Nang City.
