Director of Sanfun Academy Publishing, author of Lao Vowels’ Book, Ms. SoukphaphoneThongsavanh unveiled on Mar 5 two collections of pictorial books that give children a new experience of reading.
Addressing the launch event at Monument Books, Vientiane, Ms. Soukphaphone said that her book inauguration aimed to promote the love and passion for reading among young learners, especially kindergarten students.
She appreciated schools, organizations and other concerned offices for supporting Sanfun’s efforts in making the Lao vowels’ book possible.
The Lao vowels books are supplementary reading materials, recently published along with online teaching resources amid the Covid-19.
“As for these books, we have tried to make them more affordable, available in both online and offline. In addition, teachers, parents and children can access these books through the QR Code in the book for guided reading audio and also the online interactive activities. We published our book with the online resources with the hope to support teachers to have extra-materials to be used for online teaching during the Covid-19,” said Ms.Soukphaphone.
Soukphaphone’s love of reading inspiration came from her experience in raising two kids years ago in Australia.
“In Australia, children and family can access the public library packed with a lot of books and parents usually engage their kids in reading. In order to have such a culture we must make good books available at affordable prices,” said Mrs. Soukphaphone.
Now, back in her home country, Ms. Soukphaphone is bringing the reading culture to the Lao PDR and promoting reading as an essential parenting practice for Lao families with young children.
Ms. Soukphaphone encourages parents to read more to children to help them develop good reading habits and positive attitudes towards books at a young age. “The family reading is an engaging activity that can strengthen family bonds,” she added.
Established in 2020, Sanfun Academy is an educational publishing house focusing on promoting early childhood literacy.
