Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. is set to hold crucial executive-level meetings later this month to outline business strategies for the latter half of the year. These meetings, scheduled for June 17-19, form part of the company's biannual global strategy sessions, typically conducted in June and December. According to Lao News Agency, the meetings will be led by the heads of each business division, focusing on reviewing regional and business-specific issues, along with discussions on next year's goals and sales strategies. This year's agenda is poised to address strategies for navigating the rising global uncertainties, including the shifting trade policies under U.S. President Donald Trump's second administration. The participants will also evaluate supply chain vulnerabilities and consider region-specific responses. Roh Tae-moon, acting head of the Device eXperience (DX) division, and Jun Young-hyun, head of the Device Solutions (DS) division, will preside over the meetings. Despite the significance of the se discussions, Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong is not expected to attend. The DS division, which manages Samsung's semiconductor business, will have in-depth discussions on sales strategies and methods to enhance long-term competitiveness. Samsung has recently been challenged in the global dynamic random access memory (DRAM) market, losing its top position to SK hynix Inc. during the first quarter. The company faces ongoing challenges in high bandwidth memory (HBM) and foundry operations. According to market research firm Omdia, Samsung's global DRAM market share decreased to 34.4 percent in the first quarter from 38.6 percent the previous quarter. In contrast, SK hynix's market share rose from 36 percent to 36.9 percent, overtaking Samsung for the first time.
