Beijing: China has launched an "ASEAN Visa" aimed at facilitating cross-border travel for the 10 ASEAN countries and ASEAN observer Timor-Leste, as announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian during a regular press briefing.
According to Lao News Agency, the new visa will be issued to business personnel from the 11 countries, along with their spouses and children who meet the necessary requirements. This visa permits multiple entries over five years, with a maximum stay of 180 days per visit.
Lin Jian highlighted that the "ASEAN Visa" builds on existing mutual visa exemptions with nations such as Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. It also follows the introduction of the "Lancang-Mekong visa" for Mekong River nations, aiming to further streamline cross-border travel within the region.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to advance the China-ASEAN community, fostering a shared future marked by peace, prosperity, and friendship. Lin emphasized the importance of facilitating personnel exchanges between China and Southeast Asian countries, reflecting a common aspiration to enhance bilateral interactions.
