Rizal pipe bridge project to improve water services to 20K families

ANTIPOLO CITY: Water services for an estimated 20,000 households in Angono, Binangonan, Cainta and Taytay towns in this province are expected to improve significantly with the imminent completion of a 26-linear-meter-long pipe bridge system along Manila East Service Road.

In an exchange of messages on Wednesday, Manila Water corporate communications manager Kim Cardenas-Monis assured that construction of the PHP45-million Darangan pipe bridge project, which is located in the municipality of Binangonan, will be finished this week.

‘The pipe-laying activities under the Darangan bridge project will be completed this week, energization will start on the first week of June,’ she told the Philippine News Agency.

By ‘energization,’ she was referring to the flow of water through the 800-millimeter-thick steel pipe once it becomes operational.

Certain communities here have lower water pressure owing to their connection to thinner and older water pipes that are fast becoming insufficient for the province’s growing
requirements.

While the facility is located in Rizal province, it also stands to benefit some households in Pasig City once the pipe bridge is activated, according to Monis.

The project, which commenced in November 2023, is designed to reinforce existing supply connections, and benefit residential, commercial, and industrial customers in these rapidly developing areas.

Crucial to the completion of the project is the deployment of cutting-edge boring machines facilitating the seamless interconnection of new pipes to the existing one.

‘Service improvement and expansion projects, such as the Darangan pipe bridge, support the company’s efforts to provide better service to customers outside the central distribution area,’ Manila Water’s Corporate Communications Affairs Group Director Jeric Sevilla said in an earlier statement.

Manila Water serves over 413,000 connections in Rizal, providing water to an estimated 2.8 million individuals.
