President Thongloun Receives Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh

Vientiane: Party Secretary General and State President of the Lao PDR, Thongloun Sisoulith, warmly received a courtesy call from Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, at the Party Central Committee's Office. The visit was on the occasion of co-chairing the 48th Meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee on Bilateral Cooperation.

According to Lao News Agency, President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his warm welcome and high appreciation for the Vietnamese premier's visit. He extended congratulations on the successful outcomes of the meeting, which was jointly chaired by the Prime Ministers of both nations.

President Thongloun sincerely thanked the Party, State, and people of Vietnam for their assistance to Laos, both during the past struggle for national liberation and in the current period of national protection and development. He highlighted Vietnam's support, crucial for the success of the recent 50th National Day celebrations of the Lao PDR.

Both sides praised the bilateral cooperative relationship, characterized by trust and regular exchanges of delegations at all levels. The leaders reviewed recent key successes, including the state visit to Laos by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and the outcomes of the 2026 annual meeting between the countries' political bureaus.

Looking ahead, both sides agreed to continue promoting visits and exchanges to strengthen solidarity and friendship. They committed to enhancing cooperation across all sectors, ensuring closer coordination. The leaders emphasized the importance of established cooperative mechanisms for greater results.

A key focus will be on policy coordination for infrastructure development, advancing strategic projects like the Vientiane-Hanoi Expressway and the Vientiane-Thakhek-Vung Ang railway. Both sides also agreed to intensify public outreach and education for younger generations about the unique Laos-Vietnam relationship.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Lao side for the warm reception and congratulated Laos on the success of its 50th National Day celebrations. He affirmed Vietnam's commitment to continue working closely with Laos to implement the agreements reached, turning them into concrete results for the benefit of both peoples.
