Xayaboury: Health authorities in Xayaboury Province, northern Laos, have issued an urgent warning after seven deaths were linked to poisonous wild mushrooms, urging the public to stay vigilant and take preventive measures to avoid further fatalities.

According to Lao News Agency, a warning issued by the provincial health office on May 16 confirmed that poisonous mushrooms have led to the deaths of seven individuals.

The provincial health office has called on local authorities to work closely with health workers to monitor, collect, and report cases of mushroom poisoning to relevant agencies promptly. They are also urged to spearhead public health education efforts, raising awareness about the dangers of consuming wild or unidentified mushrooms and other toxic foods.

Parents are advised to exercise caution when preparing meals, ensuring that all ingredients are safe for consumption. The public is strongly warned to remain vigilant to help prevent further cases of mushroom poisoning.
