Passenger volume records over 700,000 on Laos-China Railway

Since its launch in December 2021, the Laos-China Railway had handled 701,600 passenger trips as of 2 August on the railway’s Laos section.

The volume of transport via the railway came more than 1 million tonnes of goods, of which 773,400 tonnes of goods sent from Laos to China include iron ore, potassium, charcoal, rubber, cassava flour and other, and 253,600 tonnes of goods imported China to Lao PDR, including fertiliser, electrical appliances, clothes, etc.

Mr. Daochinda Siharath, Deputy General Director of Laos-China Railway Company reported on August 3 that since the launching of Laos-China railway we have so far paid attention to provide the best service to passengers by improving the service management time to time.

The Laos-China Railway Company has also continued to implement a number of uncompleted construction works such as drainage system, improving the electric system of the train, as well as expanding the train ticket sales service, building various facilities outside the station building, such as toilets, parking lots, etc.

As a landmark project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, the 1,035-km Laos-China Railway connects China’s Kunming with the Vientiane Capital.
