P6.9-M ‘shabu’ recovered in arrested Davao trader’s house


DAVAO CITY: Police authorities recovered some PHP6.9 million worth of ‘shabu’ drugs from the residence of an arrested trader-cum-drug suspect in Barangay Ma-a here on Wednesday morning.

A report from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified the person under police custody (PUPC) only as a certain ‘Jose,’ 51, who informed the Toril Police Station 8 of the whereabouts of the illegal drugs two days after his arrest.

Jose was apprehended by personnel of the Task Force Davao and Toril Police Station at a checkpoint here on July 1 for possession of shabu worth PHP100,000 and firearms.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the suspect revealed -with witnesses and the arresting officer present- that he had hidden a huge pack of shabu inside his residence in Ma-a.

“The officers were dispatched to recover the alleged illegal drug items after the PUPC revealed its location. At around 4 a.m., authorities returned to the office with information that they had recovered drug items inside Jose’s house,’ DCPO said.

A larg
e, transparent plastic bag sealed with packaging tape containing illegal drugs was seized from the suspect’s house.

The recovered ‘shabu’ is now in the custody of the Toril Police Station for proper handling. It will subsequently be transferred to the Davao City Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.
