Iloilo city: The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) has disbursed PHP88.13 million in cash grants to 8,255 senior citizens in Western Visayas who qualified under the Expanded Centenarian Act. This distribution marks the second quarter payout for 2,016 grantees in 2014 and 6,239 grantees for 2025.
According to Philippines News Agency, the recipients include 3,802 individuals aged 80 years, 2,805 aged 85, 1,229 aged 90 years, 357 aged 95, and 62 centenarians. NCSC regional director Ann Rapunzel Ganzon highlighted the strong collaboration with local government units to reach more senior citizens. She stated that efforts are made to visit communities and raise awareness about NCSC programs, ensuring that eligible seniors can receive their PHP10,000 cash gift and PHP100,000 for centenarians.
Ganzon also explained that for bedridden seniors who have reached their milestone age, NCSC representatives visit their homes. For those able to travel, payouts are conducted in centralized locations. The NCSC continues to strengthen coordination with municipal welfare and development offices, the office of senior citizens affairs, and federation officers to ensure qualified seniors receive their cash gifts. Earlier this year, during the first quarter, the NCSC released cash grants to 5,153 senior citizens.
