Ninh Thuan promotes sustainable, effective marine aquaculture

With a coastline stretching over 105 km and a diverse system of lagoons and bays, Ninh Thuan has identified marine farming as a critical economic sector. Taking advantage of its topography, local fishermen are investing in aquaculture with high economic value and doing so in a sustainable manner. By 2030, Ninh Thuan province aims to have approximately 5,000 hectares of marine farming. In order to reach this goal, the province’s authority has reassessed its policy mechanisms to attract investment and support, shifted focus to services, products with added value, attracted large-scale enterprises and high-tech projects to contribute to green growth, and protected the marine ecological environment as well as the marine economy. Currently, Ninh Thuan province’s farmers are focusing on farming and breeding of high-value aquatic species such as lobsters, Pacific oysters, squids and marine fishes like cobia.
