Some police officials in Negros Oriental have been recently relieved from their positions for ‘career enhancement’ purposes, according to the new acting police provincial director, Col. Ronan Claravall. The minor reshuffle would not affect key positions, Claravall insisted on Saturday. He told the Philippine News Agency that the reassignment was part of regular reshuffling and has the ‘guidance and approval of higher headquarters.” ‘I have just been here for five days only and I am doing the rounds of the cities and towns to meet with the local chief executives and get to know the people and the places,’ he said. Claravall is the fifth police provincial director of Negros Oriental this year, following the relief of four of his predecessors in the midst of national government efforts to restore peace and order in the province after the March 4 assassination of Gov. Roel Degamo. With the death of Degamo, several police officials and police station personnel were relieved and transferred after some were implicated in alleged killings. The relief and subsequent transfer of the Canlaon City police chief, Lt. Col. Roland Desiree Lavisto, to the Bais City police station, was imperative because he has more experience and a higher rank as required for cities, Claravall said. Lt. Col. Rolan Aliser of the Bais City police station left for an advanced course, which prompted the transfer of Lavisto, the acting provincial chief said. Lavisto assumed office on Friday after paying a courtesy call to Bais City Mayor Luigi Goñi. Lavisto, on the other hand, was replaced by Maj. Danilo Santillan, who vacated his post as officer-in-charge (OIC) of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC). Capt. Edjel Baldado Tablate replaced Santillan as the OIC of the 2nd PMFC. Maj. Antonio Flordeliz Jabar was also designated as acting unit chief of the Provincial Administrative and Resource Management Unit (PARMU) while Capt. Andrew Anque was designated as acting assistant unit chief/human resource doctrine and development officer of PARMU of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office headquarters. Except for these changes, Claravall said he sees no immediate reshuffling of other positions as he has yet to meet with the town mayors. Claravall paid a courtesy call on Gov. Manuel Sagarbarria last week after his appointment as the acting police chief.
