Misamis Occidental Provides Aid to Family of MSU Blast Victim


Misamis Occidental – The Misamis Occidental provincial government has offered assistance to the family of a victim from the recent explosion at Mindanao State University (MSU) Main Campus in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. The incident, which occurred on December 3, resulted in four deaths and at least 50 injuries.



According to Philippines News Agency, provincial information focal person, Governor Henry Oaminal Sr. provided a cash aid of PHP10,000 to the relatives of Riza Ramos Daniel, a 49-year-old resident of Tangub City who lost her life in the blast.



The local government of Tangub City also contributed food and additional cash assistance to the affected family. Daniel, who was declared dead on arrival at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City, worked in Marawi and was living there with her son, El Dritz, a third-year Computer Studies student at MSU. Both were attending a mass when the explosion happened. El Dritz sustained injuries but is now safe. Another resident of Tangub City, Sheree Mae Asoy, a BS Entrepreneurship student at MSU, is currently in a stable condition. Additionally, two other students from the province, Grace Ann Parojinog of Tudela and Ronald Aranton Tabibina from Lopez Jaena, are recovering.



Meanwhile, lawyer Shidik Zed Abantas, MSU Board of Regents secretary, provided an update on the situation at the MSU Main Campus. The campus is fully operational with no movement restrictions, but enhanced security measures have been implemented. Abantas mentioned that MSU has increased the number of checkpoints and heightened the presence of security forces on the campus premises. Since the incident, MSU officials have maintained close coordination with various government agencies, including the Marawi City and Lanao del Sur provincial governments, as well as the regional Bangsamoro government. The MSU administration has also collaborated with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Lanao del Sur to distribute care packages containing rice, canned goods, and hygiene kits to students on campus.
