Mala Stupa Festival to Take Place on Feb 10-12 in Vientiane Province

Vientiane: The Mala Stupa Festival is set to take place from February 10 to 12 in Thoulakhom district, Vientiane Province. This announcement was made during a meeting held on January 31.



According to Lao News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Thoulakhom district’s Vice Governor Kikham Vongxay and was attended by representatives of relevant authorities. Mrs. Kongkeo Khamphanh, Chief of Nakhong village, informed the meeting that the festival will feature a goods exhibition and a food fair showcasing local specialties such as khao lam and ping kai.



The event will also include displays of agricultural and handicraft products, along with One District One Product (ODOP) items. Cultural traditions will be highlighted with a wax castle procession, an elephant parade, and a horse procession.



Representatives from the business community and financial institutions will be participating in the event. Mrs. Kongkeo emphasized that the festival aims to preserve the cultural heritage of Thoulakhom district and Vientiane Province, reflecting the traditions and customs of its ethnic communities. Additionally, the festival seeks to promote tourism and boost local income generation.
