Some 222 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded nationwide over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 19,952 including 4,778 active cases and 16 deaths, according to the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
“Of the new confirmed cases, 210 were classified as local infections and 12 as imported cases,” Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Sisavath Soutthanilaxay told a press conference in Vientiane today.
The local transmissions were detected in Vientiane 75, Vientiane (Province) 44, Khammuan 35, Champassak 23, Luang Prabang 14, Xieng Khuang eight, Savannakhet four, Luang Namtha three, Bokeo two and Borikhamxay and Attapeu one each.
The imported cases were reported in Savannakhet five, Luang Prabang, Champassak and Khammuan two each, and Saravan one.
