Laos, Panama establish diplomatic ties

Sep 9 witnessed the signing of the Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Republic of Panama at the Permanent Mission of Panama to the United Nations in New York, USA.

Representing the two countries were Ambassador Anouparb Vongnorkeo, Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to the United Nations, and Ambassador Markova Concepcion Jaramillo, Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations.

The decision on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was made earlier in 2019 but both sides were unable to formally organize the signing ceremony due to unforeseen logistical impediment.

The establishment of diplomatic relations between the Lao PDR and the Republic of Panama is a testimony of the consistent foreign policy of “Peace, Independence, Friendship and Cooperation” pursued by the Government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic aiming at promoting friendly relations and cooperation with all countries globally.
